Project Stories

This class focuses on the Application of Emerging Technologies for Media & Entertainment. In just one semester our 20 student interdisciplinary team built four multimedia products for legendary Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. Through our work, beer enthusiasts can see the bottling process in action and enter a virtual reality experience to visit the original brewery where Pale Ale was created.

Our team created two videos for Sierra Nevada Brewing Company to be used in their tours and other areas within their online presence.

Three Departments, Two Colleges, One Team

METX 498 is an interdisciplinary class at CSU, Chico that includes majors from:

Computer Animation & Game Development

With building blueprints provided by the city of Chico, students in the CAGD program primarily worked to recreate Ken Grossman's original brewery in virtual reality. This makes it possible to tour the old brewery and understand the rich history of Sierra Nevada.

Journalism & Public Relations

Students in the J&PR department researched details about Sierra Nevada's history to provide the most accurate story possible. Working between CAGD and MADT students, they built the story told throughout these four multimedia elements.

Media Arts, Design & Technology

Students in the MADT department filmed, edited and collaborated with each other to produce the Bottleshop videos in both 2D and 360 formats. They spent hours filming at the Bottleshop, working with the client in their audio recording studio and creating animation graphics.

The Team

We are METX 498, a mixture of students from: Computer Animation & Game Development, Journalism & Public Relations, and Media Arts, Design & Technology. Together we built four online elements for a world-known client, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.

    Client Pitch

    First Day of Filming

    The MADT film team enters the Bottleshop with the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini 4K Camera for the first time. Film locations are also chosen for the 360 camera.

    To better represent the warehouse in VR the team met with Bart, a Sierra Nevada Employee who saw the original building. They are given the OK to finalize plans and start building.

    Last Day of Filming
